Tagji Tagging File System For Linux
posted by Editor on Monday January 15, @04:15PM
Relational User Interfaces Anonymous Coward writes "Hi, I put this code online today: http://freshmeat.net/projects/tagji/ tagji implements a "fake but working" tagging file system on GNU/Linux. This is "first-release" code. And the GUI is not sexy (perhaps 'unusable' also applies). It works by simply storing tags in the filename and then parsing all filenames when a 'search' is performed. You can organize and retrieve documents based on the tags attached to them. By using Linux's inotify, it automatically prompts you to tag the documents you once you create them. You can then navigate your collection of documents by invoking the app 'tagji'. I would enjoy hearing from anybody interested in helping along. Cheers, Manuel" See this presentation for a tutorial on tagging file systems.
