GoMonkey Gesture Interface for Multimedia Displays
posted by Editor on Tuesday May 23, @05:48PM
Gesture Interfaces GoMonkey is a real time gesture-based control system for projected output, similar to the data-mining interface envisioned in the film Minority Report. GoMonkey combines conventional PC hardware with a pair of stereo tracking cameras, gesture recognition software and a customized content management system. The stereo cameras and microphones detect impulses generated by hand movements or voice. The system’s software interprets that data and responds by activating and controlling videos, photos, texts, charts, 3D-models, animations and sounds, as well as event technology like spotlights, laser shows, 3D sounds, fog machines, water pumps and other machinery (see video demo). The prototype uses Sun Microsystems’s Looking Glass 3D user interface.
