Attack-Resistant Trust Metrics Simplified
posted by Editor on Thursday March 02, @03:57PM
Distributed Trust Metrics This page describes a simple attack-resistant trust metric developed for the Advogato discussion site. In Advogato, peer certifications (i.e. assertions by users that other users are trustyworthy) are the sole input to the trust metric. The output is a simple yes/no for each user. In the graph model, each user is a node, and a peer certification by A that B is trustworthy is an edge from A to B. There is more detail about the methodology here, along with a mathematical proof of the algorithm's effectiveness. For even more detail, here is a draft of the inventor's PhD thesis about the methodology.
